The Ruins of Yamanaka Castle
It was a day with clear sky and blissful wind.
I was cheered up by the great weather, so I decided to have a trip again.
Departed from Kozu Station, I took a train of Tokaido Line, first reached Atami Station, from there I took a train head to Mishima Station. The train system of this section doesn’t accept payment by IC card, so you have to to buy a ticket using cash. But I didn’t know that, so I enter the ticket gate using my IC card, when I tried to exit the gate using IC card at the destination station, I got a beep from the ticket machine, so I had to ask the station staff to help me solve the problem. If you plan to visit the region, just don’t forget to buy a train ticket beforehand. Although there are many tourist attraction near Mishima Station, I decided to have a visit to the Ruins of Yamanaka Castle which is at the farthest location from the station. I took a bus at the no.5 bus stop outside south exit of Mishima Station, the bus was a Numazu Tozan Tokai Bus, I should just get off at the bus stop of the Ruins of Yamanaka Castle. The bus doesn’t support IC ticket either, so again I had to buy a ticket at the ticket counter.
Discount applied for for a round-trip ticket, can be used within two days.
After traversing around the mountain way for about 40 minutes, finally I arrived at the destination.
It looks like the Ruins of Yamanaka Castle was separated into two sections by a main road.
It was almost noon time, there were few people out there, I went to a Udon noodle restaurant across the road to have my lunch. The noodle tastes great.
After finished my lunch, I switched my mind to exploration mode. The weather was so great!
This was an area called Ninomaru. It was broad and had many trees.
The next area was an area called Honmaru.
I was a bit surprised to see such large ground of castle in Japan. There are also areas of Kitamaru and Nishimaru, I believe Ujiyasu Hojo, the then castle landowner of the castle had many lands.
Due to the great weather, the light and the shadow is all in the right degree.
I climbed a higher position of the land, suddenly a broad view emerged before me. I could watch Mt. Fuji from here. Mr. Fuji stood silently at the far end of the sky, I was stunned by the great magnificence of the scene.
Shoji-bori, a well-known fortification of the Ruins of Yamanaka Castle. Though I didn’t understand how it works.
The Ruins of Yamanaka Castle is indeed a large scale green park covered with lush trees and plants. It will be great if someday I could have a picnic with my family here.
My trip today end at here, the sky was so blue when I was waiting for the bus. I felt cheered up by the trip.
