One of the top ten old temples in Kanton area, Tengu legend and Kokusho soup start here
The temple was believed originally built by Hatakeyama Kunikyo, an influential person in Muromachi Bakufu era.
During the peak period of the temple, it contained 300 sub-temples, became one of the top ten temples in Kanto area in 3rd General Ashikaga Yoshimitsu.
In the Buddha hall, there is a statue of Sakyamuni. There are also the tomb of Kaiki and Kaizan, Kosodate Jizou of Kyu-Furinan.
It is said that three legends of Tengu were taken place at this temple, especially the one called “Iccho, a man mobbed by Tengu.”
Monk Iccho is a real person who later became the priest of Koganin Temple. Also country (kokushoujiru) are still denominated juice, along with eating monk this temple is the birthplace of.
