Tanzawa Lake is located to at the east of Mt. Fuji in Yamakita town, Ashigarakami district, in the Kanagawa Prefecture. The lake and its surroundings are frequently visited during autumn to admire autumn colors. From observatory deck placed in the Chiyosawa Park you can see the landscape of Mt. Fuji and Tanzawa Lake surrounded by autumn leafs.
I went to see the Tanzawa Lake at the beautiful sunny autumn day. We had parked the car near the Miho Dam and went for a walk through the broad boardwalk. Because of early morning, there were not many tourists there and we could relax during lazy, nice walk around the nature. That day, wind didn’t blow at all and the surface of the lake looked just like the mirror. Nagatose Bridge, Yodukuo Bridge, Pokko Mound and autumn colors were reflected on the water surface exactly like it would be the postcard picture. When I looked on the other side of road, I saw low-located, small houses and bike lane surrounded by autumn leafs.
Then, we crossed the bridge to watch the Tanzawa Lake from the other viewpoint. We got to the Chiyosekawa Park, where there are two observation decks that overlooks the lake and a beautiful view of both sides of Mt. Fuji. In fact the view from the observation deck is listed under the ‘Hundred Views of Mount Fujii’ by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Unfortunately, Mt. Fuji was partly hidden in clouds and I couldn’t capture it in pictures. Also, in the surroundings of Lake Tanzawa, you can enjoy boating, cycling, fishing or camping near the lake.
Summary
Tanzawa Lake is one of the most famous autumn spots of Ashigara area. If you like watching adorable nature places, you should definietly come here in November. Also, every year in the middle of November is organized ‘Tanzawa Lake Autumn Leafs Festival’. It’s surely worth seeing as well!
