Access by public transport: Get off at the Hakone-Yumoto Station of the Hakone-Tozan Railway, take a bus of Izu-Hakone Bus for Kojiri via Owakudani or Hakone-en, get off at Owakudani bus stop.

Owakudani Valley

Owakudani is at the height of 1,040m above the sea level, volcanic activity still continues at here, and volcanic gases are constantly erupted form the ground. It is a dangerous place for people with asthma or have trouble with respiratory system and heart problems. It is the superb view place which is chosen in 50 selections of Kanagawa picturesque sceneries at a famous sightseeing spot in Hakone.

Climbing from the Owakudani Statioin for 15 minutes toward the volcanic fume zone, you will arrive at the popular attraction of Egg Tea House which sells black eggs, a local specialty of eggs hard-boiled in the hot springs. The egg is boiled in hot spring pond of sulfur with black appearance. Please have a taste!

Ropeway Platform

It is not only the volcanic zone that attract the tourists , another attraction of Owakudani is its ropeway. You can also enjoy a pirate ship (sightseeing boat) riding in the Lake Ashinoko from the Tougendai Station. Please visit the official website of the Ropeway for coupon tickets.
