Odawara-jo Castle was once a center fortress maintained and developed by General Toyotomi Hideyoshi in order to take control of the Kanto area. The castle was extended to its maximum size by including a ditch of 9km in total length to prevent the attack from the enemy.
However, General Hideyoshi started to build the castle of the Ishigakiyama-Ichiya-jo as well as other castles, began to attack Odawara in 1590, Hojo tribe was distorted by the attack. The event marked the end of the Age of Civil Wars.
Odawara-jo Castle is registered as a historic spot of the country.
