Kinomiya Daimyoujin God is a God of the land of the Atami and enshrined for a long time in the ground of Kinomiya, and it is believed as God of the fortunes and lucks for a long time.
1,300 years ago June 15th in the year of Wado, a fisherman caught a wooden statue in his net in the sea of Atami. An apprentice to a priest appears and said “I am addressed Isotake-no-mikoto. There are seven camphor trees with hollow in this village in where you do not hear the sound of the wave. Protect the trees and worship me and I will protect people and visitors as well. Villagers found out the location in west side of mountains in Atami.
Also, it is said that the god gladly had the offering baked flour, lily bulb, tokoro potatoes and oranges before the alter.
On June 15 (July 15 in solar calendar) the parishioner of Atami appears in the shore and have a festival (annual festival of July, Kogashi Festival) and perform to remember those days.
As for the New Year’s visit to a Shinto shrine about 100,000 people bustle every year from the city outside and various events are carried out too.
A giant tree of the national second largest tree: When you walks around a trunk of this giant camphor tree of 2,000 years old it lengthens for one year of your life expectancy, therefore, a praying worshipers, disease recovery, the health prayer keep showing upafter the vitality of this tree.
Another saying is that if you have some wish, keep it to yourself and walks around the trunk the wish takes shape.
In the restaurant you can find various souvenirs and gifts like steamed buns and the giant camphor tree rice-cracker, of curse you can have the light meals such as the udon etc.
