A one-day tour to Hatsushima Island
2014/12/03
Hatsushima Island is a small island offshore of Shizuoka. It is known as the nearest offshore island to the capital region of Japan.
There are plenty of tourists visiting here every year to enjoy the marine atmosphere of the island.
To visit Hatsushima Island, you have to take a ferry which takes about 25 minutes to reach the island. Bundled tickets are also available which can be purchased in reasonable prices.
The trip to the island by ferry surely was an exciting one for me.
After the ferry left the port, seagulls followed and hovering near the ferry all the way. Passengers played with seagulls by offering foods and snacks to them.
Seagulls are beautiful and elegant.
But soon I found I was overwhelmed by them because they gradually became aggressive toward the passengers.
The elegant aura of seagulls was suddenly peered off by the greediness of the bird. Just like the greediness of human.
I like the feeling of floating in the sea, watch the broad sky and sea around me, feel how tiny human is.
After landed on the island, I saw a cat with short tail. My friends told me there are many cats inhabiting in the island, but during my trip, I never saw another cat except this one.
Hatsushima Island is small, there is a road cycling the island which is a small trip to walk around it.
There are several well-known activity facilities and theme parks in Hatsushima, one is a large spa called Kaisenyoku Shimanoyu. Some other facilities contains an exotic botanical garden called Asian Garden R-Asia which displays hundreds of tropical plants, a camp site called Island Camp Villa, and a marine pool facilities called Sea Pool.
I bought an R-Asia bundled ticket beforehand, after lunch I took a tirp to the garden, the road was straight forward I went there without any hassle.
The Asian Garden is actually very simple, there were fewer plants than I expected and it is small. However the camping facility looked very nice.
On sunny days, Mt. Fuji can be viewed from Hatsushima Lighthouse. Unfortunately it was raining during my visit.
A large part of the island belongs to Hatsushima Club which is a company running tourist business on the island.
Then are also a shipyard.
Maybe there will be more funs on the island during summer.
