Autumn Festival of Hokkawa Kashima Shrine

A traditional culture event hold on Oct. 26th and 27th every year. During the two days of the event, Kashima Odori (Kashima Dance), an Intangible Cultural Property of Hokkawa Town will be performed by members of Reservation Committee on a temporary stage at the shrine and the coast area.
Kashima Odori is a sacred ritual worshiping the sea which was originated from the Kashima Shrine of Kashima City, Ibaraki, widely celebrated by people around Sagami Bay, Odawara, Izu-Hokkawa area, people pray for good health, fruitfulness of fishing and safety on the sea.
