A well-established shrine with thousands years of history. It was worshiped by the imperial court as the god who governs eruptions of Mt. Fuji and island formations of the islands in Izu. It was said that Minamoto no Yoritomo had prayed here when rose to fight the Hira clan.
The forest in the ground of the temple stretches for 50,000 square meters, it serves as an important natural reserves for the city of Mishima. There are cherry blossoms in spring, many activities and events are scheduled in August including Yabusame ritual and Shinto rituals.
