A venerable Shinto shrine that the time of foundation is old, retroactive to the period of reclaime of Yugawara which was handled by Futami Kaganosukeshigeyuki (and dedicated 5 pillars after 5 gods, that’s Gosho means).
Local anecdote says that as General Yoritomo Minamoto raised an army in Izu, a lord of this region named Doi Jirokanpei prayed for his victory and offered his sword from his waist.
There is a tree that people call “Kusu of Myojin (God of camphor tree)” which widen its branches on a prefectural road.
This old Kusu (estimated more than 800 years, the trunk diameter at 15,6m),
Part of inside of the trunk is dead and is reinforced with concrete and a guardian deity of children is laid in there.
