2014/02/21
It’s a ruin of renkaku style castle on the small hill at the ridge which dropped from the southern part of Hakone Koki Gairinzan (in Old outer trace) called Mt. Shuhoudaikanzan into the Yugawara area of the Gulf of Sagami.
It is said tthe ruins of this castle belonged to Sanehira Doi but we have no concrete proof yet.
However, the fact is that this an important area that is not just a part of mountain foot along Sagmi Gulf but a essential route called Atami-do for the nation that connects Odawara and Izusan, of Atami and Nirayama. this area is well know as General Minamoto’s career has started here and it proves how important this junction and it is considered that these ruins of a castle had some kind of relations to Captain Sanehira’s army raising plan.
