The forest which grew on the lava flow of the Jogan eruption (864 A.C.) that divided Saiko Lake and Lake Shoji.
The very large natural forest which streches northwest of Mount Fuji. The origin of the name “Jukai” (meaning sea forest) is its view of thickly grown trees as seeing from the top of the hill.
The area widened approximately 3,000ha in the forest formed on the lava which flowed out by the eruption from northwest hillside the Fuji in Jogan 6 (864 A.D.).
The area is academically valuable, where 330-360-year-old wild hemlock, hinoki cyperss and Japanese red pines still grow.
The trails are well-maintained, and the nature guided tour is active here.
