Hashiriyu (Spurting Water Place)
2014/02/13
“Hashiriyu” (watering place) facing the sea of Sagami is one of Japan’s top 3 fine old source. A cave-type spring like here is rare in Japan.
I was discovered 1,300 years ago and named “Hashiriyu” (spurting spring) which describe how the water spring out from the mountains and flew into the sea.
As it remains in old poetry this spring was believed as holy water of Izu Mountain’s God before the Meiji.
As for 7,000 tons and 70 degrees of hot water water still springs out of the cave of 5m deep every day, and in the source place shows a mysterious scene.
