Izu Nagaoka Onsen was once a famous place of sericulture. In the past, People decorated the Mayudama ornament every year to pray for good harvest of sericulture.
However, the sericulture gradually declined after Kano River typhoon of 1958 and the person who engaged in it disappeared and the Mayudama ornament can hardly be seen anymore today.
As the time passes, local residents of Izu Nagaoka Onsen have decided to bring back the Mayudama ornament to convey a heart of the hospitality to tourists.
The landlady of the Japanese-style hotel use a kimono of Geishas to display the fascinating Mayudama ornament handcrafted by the women of local towns.
In addition, pray for the staple grains fertile business prosperity.
