The 72th Atami Baien Plum Festival
2015/12/18
Opened in 1886, Atami Baien is the earliest place every year in Japan to enjoy plum flowers. During late November to early December, the first wave of plum flower arrives here.
There are 59 types of 472 plum trees in the garden, including some old trees that had been planted hundred years ago. The trees gradually became blossom in three stages, early-blossom, mid-term-blossom, and final-blossom. Beautiful scenes of plum flowers can be enjoyed throughout the whole flowering season.
There are also footbath facility and souvenir shop in the garden.
On some days, you can even enjoy traditional Gisha dance shows, Rakugo and free Amazake (traditional sweet, low- or non-alcohol).
